**About the role**

The Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Network Aotearoa is seeking a Research & Data Lead to join our small, high-performing team delivering the AYA Cancer Action Plan. The role of the Research & Data Lead is to set the Network’s research direction and provide timely and accurate data to support the effective delivery of the AYA Action Plan. This is a highly autonomous and specialised national role. You’ll be joining a collaborative, values-driven team that is passionate about improving outcomes for young people with cancer. **About the Network**

The AYA Cancer Network Aotearoa was established in 2014 to determine and direct improvements in cancer services for young people aged 12-24 years. The Network provides strategic direction and clinical leadership of AYA cancer in New Zealand and is contracted directly to Te Aho o Te Kahu - the Cancer Control Agency to undertake this role. The aim of the Network is to find new and innovative ways of delivering care to all AYAs diagnosed with cancer and ultimately, to improve outcomes.

**About you**

We’re looking for someone who shares our commitment to improving AYA cancer care and brings the following experience and qualities:

- Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to health-related research and evaluation
- Strong data analysis skills, with proficiency in statistical software and the ability to present insights clearly for diverse audiences
- A relevant postgraduate qualification in statistics, public health, health sciences, or a related field
- Familiarity with New Zealand health data systems and national reporting requirements
- A commitment to equity and experience embedding equity-focused approaches in research and evaluation
- Experience working collaboratively with clinicians, NGOs, researchers, and community stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce peer-reviewed publications and translate complex data into accessible visual formats
- Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Adaptability, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with a high level of accuracy and independence
