**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
We at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment are currently seeking a Senior Research and Data Analyst to join our Māia Tourism - Evidence and Insights team.
In this role, you will be involved in leading research projects that help increase understanding of the value of tourism and the resistance and sustainability of the tourism in Aotearoa. You will also play a lead role in supporting MBIE’s role as a Tourism Data Steward through MBIE’s secretariat functions to the Tourism Data Leadership Group (TDLG).
In this role, you will lead research projects and consolidate approaches through developing and provisioning policy and research. You will engage with internal and external stakeholders including the Ministers, tourism industry players and regional tourism offices and work closely with the policy teams to understand their evidence needs, scope appropriate analysis and deliver robust and timely insights.
- An understanding of different research methods and strong critical thinking establishing clear and logical evaluation to analyze evidence and issues.
- Drive effective responses to information and achieve MBIE’s outcomes and deliverables.
- Lead research projects that lift our understanding of the value of tourism to the economy, communities and people.
- Work independently and collaboratively on shaping research questions, interpreting data analysis results and drawing conclusion, and communicating to non-technical audience.
- Work closely with the TDLG Secretariat to facilitate the implementation of decisions endorsed by the group, including reporting and communications of those decisions to stakeholders.
You will be working in partnership with the Manager Tourism Evidence and Insights in delivering and providing data management and analysis modelling. This is a multi-disciplinary team of Analysts and Senior Analysts who practice a range of methodologies to meet pragmatic and tangible solutions to support the development in New Zealand. - Experienced in leading and managing research projects, including managing commissioned work
- Sound project management skills, including the ability to effectively manage wide-ranging tasks and activities
- Have 3 years or more experience in a related field
- Ability to clearly communicate insights and technical approaches verbally and in writing
- Understanding of machinery of government and social and political context of Aotearoa
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
