- ** About the Role**

Te Awakura is a 64-bed adult acute inpatient unit that provides 24-hour care for consumers with mental illness. Our model of care focuses on integrated multidisciplinary teams, providing excellent care for consumers in the least restrictive manner. There are four wards that form Te Awakura: North, East, South and West.

Currently we have 2x ACNM vacancies in the West unit, comprising of 16 beds. The teams on these units work closely with the outpatient teams and other community services. Te Awakura is made up of passionate clinicians who always work in the patients - best interests. We have a supportive team culture and encourage opportunities for growth and development.

From time to time, our senior nurses are required to work in other wards within AIG, this can be for extended periods of time.
- 1x Full-time, permanent 0.94FTE position
- 1x Full-time, fixed term, 0.94FTE covering an internal secondment until 1st March 2026

**About you**

In this professional and clinical leadership role, you will effectively contribute to the ongoing development of nursing practice and the professional nursing workforce within the service. The role has a function that is both clinical and operational, therefore you will have excellent clinical credibility as well as an ability to ensure the operational objectives are carried out in line with the CDHB vision.
- You will provide specific, ward-based nursing leadership and clinical support on morning and afternoon shifts. You will promote a high standard of consistent professional nursing practice that is contemporary, and patient focused.
- With your proven ability to lead, you will be an expert at developing and extending nursing practice, assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement and providing overall clinical expertise and mentorship within the team, to enable them to continue to deliver a high standard of care.
- As a positive role model, you will be highly motivated with excellent communication skills and have the ability to build successful relationships within the service.
- Working collaboratively with the Charge Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist and nursing staff you will strive to ensure the overall provision of quality nursing care for our service users.
- You will either hold or be working towards a relevant post graduate qualification.
- Have CNM delegation and covering CNM role in their absence
- Progress to covering DNM and CTC when sufficient experience has been gained in the ACNM role
- Must be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand, with Mental Health Scope and current APC.
