Here at the Council, we know our strength comes from our people, working together as one team to create results. When you join our City Streets Maintenance Team, you're getting involved first hand and contributing to crafting the Christchurch community. This role is mainly based out in the field, auditing and quality checking our network for a variety of work from litter and potholes, to maintenance and surfacing work on carriageways and footpaths.

You'll have the technical knowledge and understanding of pavement maintenance design, maintenance intervention strategies, quality control and the latest Health and Safety requirements. You will need a proven ability to work autonomously, problem-solving and prioritising as you go, weighing up the urgency of work so we can allocate jobs accordingly. It's important that you're comfortable using technology, specifically Thinkproject (RAMM), as you'll be expected to navigate through your workload using mobile devices.

You'll be the eyes and ears on the ground, working directly with the public and contractors. So, your ability to communicate effectively, build relationships and deliver great customer service will be essential as you keep people informed of maintenance work which may impact on their access or convenience around the City.

Having an understanding of contracts will make sure you can work effectively with our contractors, identifying efficiencies in the network and ensuring we are working together to meet the expectations around faults and activities. Drawing on your experience in the field is important as you balance the remaining lifespan of our assets against a suitable repair strategy and the urgency of completing the work.
