About the role
The Therapeutic Venesection Nurse Specialist role provides an exciting new national opportunity for senior nursing at NZBS. This role has been developed to work alongside the Transfusion Medicine Specialist to provide the highest standard of evidence-based/researched care. The Therapeutic Venesection Nurse Specialist will provide support and guidance for nurses and donor technicians working in this area across the country.
The role will report to the Chief Nurse, working closely with the Transfusion Medicine Specialist to set the KPI's and ensure that service development and clinical practice in Therapeutic Services is supported in alignment with organisational objectives. There is a requirement for leading and promoting collaborative work with other services, in particular Donor Services, including the Nurse Education Manager and Transformation team at NZBS. The principles and practice of Clinical Governance are to be applied across Therapeutic Services and positive patient/family experience is to be promoted.
There will be further projects to support quality processes and continuous quality improvement initiatives and clinical audit will be a key expectation of this role. The Therapeutic Venesection Nurse Specialist will be required to work collaboratively with the Chief Nurse around workforce planning, and with other nurse leaders, as well as the multidisciplinary team, to deliver changes that promote the highest standards of care for therapeutic patients and families and support the growth of service delivery in a way that values patient and family feedback.
About you
We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, registered nurse who has experience and skills working with therapeutic venesection patients and is passionate about supporting nurses and donor technicians at NZBS to provide the highest standards of clinical care in the Therapeutic Services.
You must be keen to help us further develop the service, and enthusiastic about extending your own skills. You will be a self-starter and able to work calmly under pressure, be flexible and adaptable to emerging needs, and to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of healthcare professionals.
Excellent organisational and critical thinking skills are essential, experience in leadership, teaching, use of data to inform, and writing skills are valued advantages.
