Whāia te pae tawhiti kia tata, ko te pae tata kia mau, kia tina.
Join Te Whatu Ora at a key time of change where you will meaningfully contribute to our kaupapa of creating a more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred health system. This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it
**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Consumer Engagement & Whānau Voice business unit has been established to provide support to Te Whatu Ora to be consumer and whānau-centred, reflecting the needs and preferences of the communities they serve, giving effect to the Ministerial Code of Expectations for Consumer Engagement.
In this role you will provide national leadership and strategic direction for development and implementation of co-design frameworks and systems that underpin engagement with consumers and whānau.
**Mōu | About you**
He manako te kōura i kore ai (wishing for crayfish, doesn't make it happen)
You will need to have extensive and wide-ranging experience and expertise supporting and listening to the voices of consumers and whānau, and couple this with enabling consumers and whānau to authentically participate in the design and monitoring of our services. An applicable under-graduate or post-graduate qualification would be an advantage but is not essential if you can demonstrate the requisite experience and expertise, particularly in working with our most disadvantaged communities such as Māori, Pasifika, Whaikaha/tāngata hauā, and Takatāpui
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- Experience leading developments at a system level ensuring co-design happens with consumers, whānau and communities.
- An applicable under-graduate or post-graduate qualification or corresponding expertise and experience in working with consumers and whānau in co-design of services.
- Skill in te reo Māori would be an advantage.
- Experience in giving authentic effect to Te Tiriti.
- Lived experience in disadvantaged communities such as Māori, Pasifika, Whaikaha/tāngata hauā, and Takatāpui would be an advantage.
- Experience working in complex environments across a number of sectors.
- Political acumen.
- Experience providing strategic advice and guidance to leadership and external agencies and groups.
- Thought leadership experience designing and managing a portfolio of work, and leading resources/teams.
- Previous experience managing teams and a range of priorities/demands simultaneously.
**Ka kawea e koe | You will bring**:
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Values based leadership and courage to advocate for our most disadvantaged communities to ensure their voices are listened to
- Aroha and sense of humour
**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei | Work that suits today's ever-changing world**
Te Whatu Ora supports flexible and hybrid working for our kaimahi. In roles that don't require an in-person element, we encourage you to ‘work from where you are.' We want our national teams to be made up of diverse people from across the motu, just like our health system.
**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**
When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations.
Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.
We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures greater access, experience, and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
