He Pou a Rangi Climate Change Commission is an independent agency dedicated to driving climate action in Aotearoa New Zealand, with a strong statutory mandate. We provide impartial, evidence-based advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change. We also monitor progress towards emissions reduction and adaptation goals and report on this publicly.

**Te Turanga | The role**
The role of Principal Advisor, Planning and Performance Reporting leads the delivery of the Commission's key government accountability documents including the Statement of Intent, the Statement of Performance Expectations, the Annual Report, the quarterly report to the Minister and other reporting as required. The role will also lead the Commission's annual business planning processes and provide specialist advice.
This is an opportunity to lead and contribute to multiple workstreams and, working with the senior leadership team, to continuously improve the Commission's strategy, planning, performance measures and outputs.
This position is fixed term for 6 months to cover parental leave, from mid-May to mid-November. There is a possibility that the role may be extended for an additional 6 months, but this will not be confirmed until a later date.
The likely appointment range for this role is between $156,997 to $175,467 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

- Experience in a public sector senior planning and reporting role, providing professional guidance to other staff
- An in-depth understanding of the machinery of government and parliamentary processes
- Great written communication skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationship with a range of stakeholders, including understanding different stakeholder's motivations and the ability to influence and persuade
- The ability to work as part of a team and also autonomously
- An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi /Treaty of Waitangi, te ao M ori and ideally have experience engaging with Iwi and M ori.
