**About the role**:
We are seeking an experienced Kaiako to deliver our Te Ara Reo Māori programme using our Ako Whakatere methodology and techniques. Teaching involves but is not limited to developing lesson plans, presenting material to tauira and responding to tauira needs and evaluating tauira progress. Rangahau (research) is encouraged for Kaiako delivering this programme. Some flexibility may be required to work some weekends and evenings.
**About you**:
Applicants should be fluent speakers of Te Reo Māori, have a thorough knowledge of tikanga Māori and be familiar with Te Reo Māori teaching methods which will enthuse our tauira (students).
Ideally, applicants will have:
- A Diploma in te reo Māori or higher
- NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCATT L5) or equivalent, or be willing to complete during the first year of employment
- National Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NCALNE) L5
- Full and current NZ Driver Licence
**Experience**:
- Teaching te reo Māori
- Ako whakatere teaching methods of teaching, learning and delivery
- Fluent in spoken and written te reo Māori and can provide guidance and leadership in this area
- Adult teaching experience
- Whilst teaching experience is highly valued at TWoA, newly qualified Kaiako with relevant qualifications but with no or limited previous teaching experience will also be considered._
As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) is desirable.
