- We have an exciting opportunity for a R&D Lab Operations Manager to join our team at the Fonterra Research and Development Centre on a permanent basis.This newly created position is crucial in aligning the lab facility and operations model with Fonterra’s innovation goals. The role involves translating the Innovation Strategy into a 10-year lab capability plan and identifying opportunities for simplifying and digitizing lab systems and workflows.As our R&D Lab Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for daily lab operations and risk management to ensure the highest safety and quality standards. You will foster a secure and efficient work environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors.
- **Key responsibilities include**:

- Align lab operations with innovation goals through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and implement a 10-year capability plan for the lab.
- Oversee the capital plan to align with strategic needs and maximize ROI.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic R&D lab improvements.
- Simplify and digitize lab processes to match the R&D Digitisation programme.
- Manage daily lab operations, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
- Create lab management policies and procedures for a secure and efficient R&D environment.
- Build team capabilities to ensure high performance and sustainability.

- This opportunity allows you to demonstrate leadership, contribute to Fonterra's R&D direction, encourage innovation, simplify complex procedures, promote growth, and build people capability to deliver a high-performance culture.Additionally, a relevant tertiary qualification, strong innovation/R&D lab management experience, leadership and team management skills, and an excellent grasp of risk and operations management processes are required.
- **To be successful in this role you will also need**:

- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- Exposure to innovation R&D laboratory management
- Strong understanding of risk and operations management processes
- Demonstrated experience leading successful and efficient teams
- Technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, coupled with strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities
