**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Senior Director, International Tax you will support our NPDL and FIJI Water operations across the South Pacific region. You will partner to support all aspects of international and domestic tax planning, reporting and compliance for our business entities, including Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and the Pacific Islands. This role entails lots of collaboration with our Corporate U.S. tax team, international finance groups, legal, external tax advisors and government authorities. You will no doubt have public accounting experience and possess an intellectual curiosity for business and tax related matters along with knowledge of transfer pricing.
**What you will be doing**:
- Provide day-to-day tax advice concerning all business transactions and tax compliance matters.
- Provide support on acquisitions, mergers, liquidations, reorganization and distributions.
- Plan and direct all aspects of income tax return preparation and documentation for the NPDL and FIJI Water business units located in Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, Fiji and other South Pacific Islands.
- Supervise the flow of work, provide information required, and drive high quality work performed by external tax preparers, auditors, and advisors.
- Manage transfer pricing compliance and review/provide advice regarding intercompany agreements covering cross border transactions.
- Manage the booking of US Tax Provisions across all entities at year end.
- Manage the completion and submission of all US Tax Packages to the Corporate U.S. tax team.
- Monitor compliance on other taxes (GST, Withholding Tax (WHT), FBT, freight taxes) and provide technical support to business units.
- Manage tax audits and controversies to ensure that the interests and position of the company are properly protected and defended.
- Develop, implement and maintain standard and consistent processes, procedures and systems to ensure that tax compliance work is completed and documented in a timely and efficient manner.
- Interpret current laws and regulations to provide advice on tax reforms or tax changes to our internal or external customers and assist in implementing the advice.
- Establish cross functional business relationships that enable the execution of tax planning strategies and provide proactive tax planning ideas.
- Other duties as required.
This role is based in Parnell, Auckland or Sydney, Australia with the occasional international travel as required.
**Qualifications**:
**Here’s what you’ll bring to the table**:
- Finance or Accounting degree and at least 3+ years in public accounting
- Experience advising on income tax, WHT, GST/VAT, customs, local and national taxation reporting and compliance, ideally in a Big 4 or other multinational environment
- International tax experience is a prerequisite. Exposure to the South Pacific is beneficial.
- Experience managing the relationship and audit process with government tax authorities and external tax advisors.
- General knowledge of the US tax rules in relation to international subsidiaries of a US multinational group would be considered an advantage.
- Understanding of transfer pricing and cross border transactions.
- Capability to understand shipping industry models and trends to find tax opportunities.
- Proven ability to cross-collaborate effectively with Legal, Finance, Accounting, Treasury and the Corporate Tax Team.
- Strong knowledge of Excel and accounting concepts, and familiarity with accounting systems

You will be able to work autonomously, communicating effectively to management and performing as a strong individual contributor with the ability to take initiative, lead projects and continually seek process improvement.
