CAPS Hauraki (child abuse prevention services) multidisciplinary team work together to make a difference in the lives of families within our local communities.
If you are passionate about the wellbeing of Tamariki and their Whanau then this is the job for you.
This dynamic role will provide you with the scope to utilise your skills and expertise supporting children, youth and adults with a range of challenges. Support is provided in CAPS offices, in schools and other venues as appropriate. We are interested to understand the modalities you feel confident using to support our clients and look forward to working alongside you to explore professional development opportunities that will add to your kete of knowledge.
Counselling support will include 1:1 sessions, small group programme facilitation and the potential to work alongside other professionals exploring options to support Tamariki in need.
As a part of the CAPS Whanau, you will draw on each others skills and knowledge to provide wrap around support that places Whanau in the center of everything you do. You will be supported by a Team Leader to grow in your role within an organisation keen to invest in your development.
Ideally you will have:
- Or be in the final stages of working towards a Bachelor degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field that supports you to provide 1:1 therapeutic support
- Provisional or full registration with your related professional body
- Experience working as a counsellor, preferably including experience providing counselling to children
- Competence in using a web based client management system
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A full and clean drivers licence
- Experience in facilitating programmes, preferably including experience providing programmes for children
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team from a variety of sectors and agencies
- Cross cultural skills and an awareness of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Have good work and personal ethics and a commitment to a violence free lifestyle
- You will be required to undergo and pass relevant NZ Police vetting as per the Vulnerable children’s Act
