CAPS Hauraki (child abuse prevention services) multidisciplinary team work together to make a difference in the lives of families within our local communities.

If you are passionate about the wellbeing of Tamariki and their Whanau then this is the job for you.

This diverse role will see you working within primary schools as a part of the wellbeing team, delivering 1:1 Counselling, programmes and other support services focused on meeting the needs of the school, students and their Whanau. As a part of the wider team you will also provide 1:1 counselling, support services and programmes to child/adult clients who experience a diverse range of challenges.

We are looking for a Counsellor with:

- A Bachelor degree in Counselling, Psychology or a related field
- Registration with a counselling or other professional body
- Experience working as a counsellor, preferably including experience providing counselling to children
- Ability to work from a range of counselling models is an advantage.
- Competence in using a web based client management system
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- A full and clean drivers licence
- Experience in facilitating programmes, preferably including experience providing programmes for children
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team from a variety of sectors and agencies
- Cross cultural skills and an awareness of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Have good work and personal ethics and a commitment to a violence free lifestyle
- You will be required to undergo and pass relevant NZ Police vetting as per the Vulnerable children’s Act
