**_About our team/Mō te tīma_**

We are seeking a Research Assistant to be part of our Department of Surgery & Anaesthesia at the University of Otago, Wellington. This research programme is focused on the molecular biology of gynaecological cancer, mainly endometrial and ovarian cancers.

**_The role/Te mahi_**

As a Research Assistant within our Department, you will help run the cancer biobank, which includes gaining patient consent at Wellington Hospital (CCDHB), collecting specimens from surgery and processing samples. You will be required to liaise with clinicians and researchers to complete these tasks.

In addition, other duties will include:

- Completing experiments.
- Supporting research students.
- Lab maintenance.
- Administration (such as finance and ordering).

Once trained, you will be responsible for the day-to-day independent running of the projects with mínimal supervision.

The position requires a high degree of responsibility, exceptional communication skills and self-organisation.
