The opportunity:
The purpose of the Reinsurance Analyst is to provide quality reinsurance support to the business. This may be in one or more areas including financial and statistical reporting and data analysis. By performing these tasks the Reinsurance Analyst contributes to the profitability and effectiveness of the business in the attainment of its objectives.
About the role:
- Provide reinsurance administration support including, but not limited to- Claim recoveries from and premium payments to reinsurers- Monthly accruals for claim recoveries and premium payments- maintain and enhance reinsurance data systems- Keep the manager(-s) and other key stakeholders up to date regarding work progress- Develop and use software skills including AIA NZ systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet, Glean, DCS and R- Extract, reconcile, manipulate and analyse data and produce draft insights and results for senior analysts and actuaries- Maintain existing tools, models, systems, processes and documentation and proactively contribute to their improvement and development- Learn to communicate and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience- Learn and understand AIA NZ’s commercial environment (including its products, markets and competitors) and the role of his/her team and other teams within AIA NZ- Learn, understand and adhere to AIA NZ’s risk management framework and the relevant policies
Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements
About you:
- Strong technical skills including software skills (e.g. MS Office package, SQL) and analytical skills- Ability to learn new concepts, e.g. business rules, regulatory and professional standards, mathematical theories, modelling techniques, software packages etc.- Strong self and time management skills- Good communication skills, both written and oral- Ability to think and work independently
**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g. Accounting, mathematics, statistics or engineering)
