MSD has one of the largest Information Group’s in central government. As part of the Organisational Assurance and Communications group, they offer support and advice across Information Management, Security and Privacy domains. With a redesigned operating model, they have multi-disciplinary teams that focus on delivering the future needs of MSD in a SAFe Agile environment.
**Te tūranga | The role**
As the Principal GM Advisor, you will be responsible for supporting the work of the General Manager (GM) and Directors in achieving the goals, strategies and accountabilities of the Information Group. This position is a vital component of the Information Group's leadership team and requires you to offer expert guidance at a strategic and operational level, ensuring a strong alignment with organisational priorities.
The high-quality specialist advice you provide will support effective decision-making. Your leadership will ensure objectives are well planned and you will facilitate effective improvements to operational processes and protocols which alleviate pain points for the GM and wider group. You will also be responsible for providing valuable insights from and input into organisational governance reporting and assisting the GM in effectively managing the day-to-day operations of the Information Group. Building effective relationships will be a critical part of your role and a leading indicator of ongoing success in the role.

- Proven experience as a trusted advisor, drawing on your extensive experience in providing strategic and operational guidance to senior leaders in the Public Sector.
- Deep understanding of the machinery of government, policy priorities, and service delivery in a large government environment.
- Masterful relationship management skills across a range of stakeholder levels with the ability to drive consensus even in challenging situations.
- Ability to craft well-written, robust advice and make evidence-based recommendations to shape the course of action.
- A proven ability to navigate ambiguity and juggle competing priorities.
- Initiative to deep dive into the realm of information functions and immerse yourself in strategic issues facing the Ministry to help drive informed decisions.
