**About the role**
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Team Leader - Building Compliance to lead a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical functions under the Building Act 2004. From building warrants of fitness to earthquake-prone buildings, your role will be central to ensuring safety and compliance across our built environment.
You will:
- Leading a skilled team to deliver consistent, high-quality building compliance services.
- Overseeing key functions including building warrant of fitness, certificates of public use, pool barriers, certificates of acceptance, and earthquake-prone buildings.
- Developing and refining best practice processes for complaint response, compliance resolution, enforcement, and cost recovery.
- Supporting and managing investigations and inspections through to clear, well-documented outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure integrated and consistent compliance management.
- Providing technical guidance and coaching to staff while managing workloads, performance, and professional development.
**About you**
You’ll be a confident leader with strong technical knowledge of building compliance? You’ll thrive on solving complex problems, and guiding team members.
You’ll need to show us that you have:
- significant experience of working in building compliance or a similar field
- strong working knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and related legislation and regulations
- strong investigation and report writing skills, with experience in preparing enforcement documentation for legal proceedings
- proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and develop a high-functioning team.
- A practical approach to managing compliance issues and delivering fair, efficient, and enforceable outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer and community focus.
- Sound judgement with the ability to identify and manage political and reputational risks.
