Kōrero mōu | About you
- One layperson member with expertise in law (in particular, medico-legal experience, preferably in relation to the HART Act).
- One layperson member with the ability to articulate issues from a disability perspective.

**To qualify for a lay membership position, you must not be**:

- a health practitioner within the meaning given in the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003; or
- involved in health research; or
- be employed by or associated with (or have a pecuniary interest in) a fertility provider.

An ability to work objectively across a range of relevant perspectives and not adopt a narrow advocacy position is required of all members. Members are also expected to demonstrate open and responsive communication skills, with an ability to reach consensus when different points of views are shared.
