**Ngā mōhiohio e pā ana ki tēnei mahi (About this position)**
This post offers hands on clinical training with relatively good exposure to gynaecological surgery, 12 months in Nelson with easy access to three National Parks, beaches, lakes, mountains, vineyards and skiing.
We have a position for a Senior Registrar to join our Obstetric and Gynaecological team. Nelson Hospital is a secondary level hospital. Our neonatal unit takes babies from 32 weeks. There are excellent links to Christchurch Gynaecological Oncology and Wellington MFM services. We have five Consultants, two House Officers (one studying for the Diploma in Obstetrics), and a Trainee Intern from Christchurch is attached to the unit for four weeks at a time. There are regular Perinatal and Maternal Mortality meetings, Colposcopy MDMs, Radiology MDMs, and local PROMPT courses.
Teaching duties will include SHO for Diploma in Obstetrics, Trainee Interns, Midwives, and of course the Consultants On call duties include one 14 hour period of after-hours call, and one 10 hour period of in-hours call per week. Weekend cover (48 hours) is one in five. All call is as part of the Consultant roster, with backup Consultant cover.
