**He angitūtanga**: About the Role
This role reports to the Manager Careers & System Integration, Careers & Investment Design and will be focused on working collaboratively across the team, directorate, organisation and external stakeholders to implement the new National Careers System Strategy.
- Using their extensive knowledge and expertise to lead major pieces of work/portfolios of work across the team and the organisation to deliver the team workplan.
- Identifying opportunities and risks, and seeking/giving advice to ensure effective delivery of the workplan.
- Proactively sharing and enabling careers knowledge transfer within the team, and to other teams in the CID directorate and the wider organisation.
- Reviewing papers, plans and projects in the workplan, and their links to the overall strategy.
- Assisting with research, analysis and preparation of reports, ministerial briefings and correspondence.

Other principal-level portfolios within the Careers & System Integration team include Research, Evaluation & Monitoring, and Insights & Analysis.

**He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for**:
This role requires a mix of strategic, relationship and analytical skills to establish the new careers system strategy.

**You will bring the following**:

- Experience working at a principal advisory level, either with:

- evaluation, research and system monitoring experience, or
- some labour market, careers or tertiary education experience
- Extensive experience developing operational strategies and plans
- Uses evidence and analysis to drive decisions and advice
- Anticipates potential problems and develops contingency plans accordingly
- Understanding of the machinery of government and can advise appropriately on risks and issues
- Well-developed written (quality writing) and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
