Bay of Plenty, New Zealand New Zealand Police Full time

**Recruitment With A Real Purpose - it starts with you**
- **Based in Tauranga**:

- **Band F (Salary starting from $73,207)**:

- **Permanent / Full Time**:

- **THE** most important recruitment role in NZ**

**Context**

New Zealand Police is the lead agency responsible for reducing crime and enhancing community safety.

We're proud of the role we play in keeping New Zealanders safe and this starts with recruiting the best people every time. Being one of our Selection Specialists means you're hard-working and dedicated, and NZ Police is an excellent place to develop yourself and grow your career.

**About the role**

As a Selection Specialist for NZ Police, you’ll work with some of the best recruiters in NZ delivering real benefit on a national level.

Your role will involve managing the end-to-end recruitment of new police officers. While it may sound simple, believe us when we say it’s anything but - our robust process selects only the best people to wear the blue uniform and the net result of what we do keeps our communities safer every day

Our busy, supportive, and collaborative team work together to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality police recruits across the country. This really is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual, who is passionate about applicant and stakeholder engagement, to join a highly successful team.

You will have experience in end-to-end recruitment at a “Trusted Advisor” level, with previous success achieved in a high volume, fast paced internal recruitment role or a relationship and service based (rather than solely dollar driven) agency position. Either way your reputation has been hard won but is well deserved.

**Success in the role is based on**:

- Utilising a variety of methods to build, manage, and progress a robust, varied, and appropriate applicant pipeline
- Efficiently completing appropriate applicant checks, providing necessary support, and progressing and selecting the best options for every role
- Owning the applicant experience and facilitating changes as required
- Managing the interview, selection, and closing process as necessary
- Ensuring all screening, hiring, and selection decisions are completed in accordance with employment laws and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective, cooperative, and valuable working relationships built on trust and results
- Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders using effective and timely communication
- Excellent organisational, attention to detail, and time management skills
- Confidence in making decisions independently
- Identifying and addressing challenges as they eventuate
- Flexibility in your approach, acknowledging that priorities change and having a solution ready to go
- Maintaining process consistency and compliance
- Keeping abreast of recruiting trends and best practices
- Supporting the wider team to develop, enhance and achieve every day

Being able to demonstrate superior competency in behavioural based interviewing, supplemented by psychometric assessment tools and their use in the selection process is essential.

You will enjoy being part of a professional (and fun), high functioning team, have sound judgement, an eye for detail and an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people from different backgrounds and cultures.

**What you’ll bring**
Being part of the Police whānau is about being our best to ensure our communities are safe and feel safe. Our Core Competencies provide a shared understanding of the behaviours, leadership and technical competence required for success at each level of Police. Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.
- Experience in recruitment is essential, along with confidence in managing workloads that often have conflicting deadlines.
- This role requires someone who demonstrates the ability to take the initiative to solve problems and make decisions.
- An understanding of recruitment systems and end to end recruitment.
- Our team is inclusive and enjoys a supportive team culture, applicants will need to demonstrate their ability to engage the characteristics of a high performing team.

This role is set at
**Individual Contributor level**, this means your key purpose is “to deliver or enable others to deliver Our Business”.
We will ask you questions based on “How we will deliver Our Business - Core Competencies” and the appropriate role level, i.e. Individual Contributor.

These questions will be unique and specific to the role, focusing on the aspects the hiring manager believes are most important for that position at the time.
