We have an exciting opportunity within MPI's International Policy Directorate. Are you super organised and energetic, with excellent people skills and a can-do attitude? Would you like to be part of MPI's work maintaining and strengthening bilateral relationships with key trading partners? Then read on.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking a talented Senior Policy Analyst to join the International Policy Directorate. Your portfolio will be focused on our bilateral relationships with Europe and the United Kingdom. The recent conclusion of Free Trade Agreements with both the EU and UK provides significant new opportunities to reset and grow our primary sector relationships with these markets. The role will involve working collaboratively across MPI, and other agencies, to bring together the environmental, trade and bilateral elements of the relationships.

Ngā Pūkenga me ngā Wheako - Skills / Experience

**Specifically, we are looking for Senior Analysts who bring**:

- Strong analytical skills and a clear thinker with a can-do approach.
- Great communication skills - in person and in writing.
- Highly organised and reliable.
- Excellent relationship management and ability to work collaboratively within MPI, across government, and with Māori and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the primary sector.
- Previous policy experience
- Sound judgement, integrity and discretion.

A typical day could involve organising or participating in agriculture dialogues with our trade partners, drafting or peer reviewing briefings, engaging with other Ministries, working with MPI's offshore posts, and liaising with external stakeholders including industry. Some international trade may be required along with ‘virtual' engagement, sometimes outside normal work hours, in order to work across time zones.
It is fun, fast paced and exciting work in an inclusive, collegial and flexible working environment. If you are up for the challenge, we want to hear from you.
