RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) Multi-Employer Collective Agreements.

Wellington Regional Hospital has modern facilities and offers exciting opportunities and top level training. Te Pae Tiaki (The Wellington Hospital Emergency Department) provides emergency care to people in the Greater Wellington, Porirua and Kāpiti regions. Each year the Department sees approximately 65,000 patients. With 29 treatment cubicles including three resuscitation bays, six minor care, one eye and 19 monitored, our medium hospital size brings friendliness to the work environment.
Our hospital is a leader in training for Emergency Medicine ' accredited by ACEM for two years of advanced metropolitan training and Paediatric Log-book, Wellington trainees continue to excel at the primary and fellowship exams. We also have ED rotations in Orthopaedics, Paediatrics and ICU.
Our Director of Emergency Medicine Ultrasound provides an active ultrasound training programme with weekly review of all scans. Te Pae Tiaki | Wellington ED is accredited by ACEM for 6 months 'special skills' ultrasound training. Other areas of interest include: Toxicology, Simulation Training, Trauma and Disaster planning. Te Pae Tiaki | Wellington ED has an established mentoring programme.
The Hospital campus includes the Wellington division of the Otago Clinical School of Medicine, and the National Patient Simulator Training Centre providing additional opportunities for teaching and research.
Te Pae Tiaki | Wellington Hospital Emergency Department offers:

- A great work environment, in a 29 bed department with a broad Emergency case mix including paediatrics and trauma, with support from all tertiary specialties;
- Emergency consultant cover on the floor 16+ hours per day, and on call overnight. This means an Emergency Specialist is usually immediately available to you for consultation/clinical review or questions;
- Supportive team based working practice (working in teams with small groups of doctors and nurses in zoned areas);
- A supportive training environment with dedicated teaching time, dedicated ACEM Exam tutorials with an exceptional pass rate in Primary and Fellowship, on the floor training, ample opportunity to do Work-based assessments (WBAs) and weekly simulation based critical scenario teaching;
- Access to Orthopaedic, Paediatric and ICU rotations and an Emergency Ultrasound Registrar position accredited by ACEM for 6 months 'special skills'. Shifts are also allocated weekly for an emergency registrar to attend theatre for anaesthetic experience.

Is a busy 260-bed facility covering both Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt. The hospital serves a population of 145,000. We have a world-renowned plastic and burns unit, regional rheumatology and public health services, and all our specialties have a strong focus on excellence and innovation.
The Hutt Hospital Emergency Department sees over 48,000 patients per annum. We see a diverse caseload from acutely ill kids and adults, burns, and mental health. Our 30 bed Department is new and purpose built ' providing a pleasant physical environment for patient care, comprised of Resuscitation bays, Acute bays and Sub-acute treatment areas. We have strong and friendly links with inpatient units, including ICU, O&G, Paeds, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Dermatology and Orthopaedics. Our ED is staffed with 14 enthusiastic consultants and is accredited for 12 months of Advanced Emergency Medicine Training with ACEM, as a designated urban district hospital.
