Intrigued as to how your experience might translate here? You won't be the first, with one of our team members sharing her story: Our kōrero with Davide - Adviser, Deposit Taking at the FMA "I've really enjoyed working in the banking industry and this was a perfect opportunity to keep working with banks. I wanted to understand the regulatory perspective and see what it means to treat customers fairly from the broadest viewpoint of the industry." What does a day in the life of Davide look like? I also get to be involved in all sorts of projects, where I get to analyse, research and formulate processes that reflect best practice for things like remediations, for instance. Sometimes there will be a misconduct case or a complaint that requires us to delve into what's happened and understand the legislation that governs what we can and can't do in response. I enjoy the opportunity to work with teams across the FMA and working as a specialist group to deal with work relating to banks or non-bank deposit takers, as well as issues impacting a number of areas such as scams. Since joining the FMA I've developed more confidence speaking to senior people in the industry and a different way of writing for business. I'm excited about my future given the opportunities that are available to us and our team is very good, not only because of their expertise but they're approachable and easy to work with. I'd tell anybody considering a role with us that the best thing about the FMA is our purpose and the importance of positively influencing the population that we regulate." About you - Ō pūkenga Your banking and/or non bank deposit taking (i.e. credit union, building society or finance companies) sector expertise will put you in great stead here, you'll need to show us why you're motivated by fair consumer treatment and how you've put fair consumer outcomes first in your previous roles.
