In this role you will be assisting the Aquatic Coordinator with operational aspects of Coastlands Aquatic Centre and the Lifeguard team. The main responsibilities include running a team of lifeguards, ensuring water quality and health & safety standards are met and supervising our pool users. Additionally, you will assist in ensuring the building is maintained to the highest standard and making sure our customers and staff are having a great time.

When joining us at the Aquatic Centre, you will be bringing a proven record of running teams, have a mature attitude, effective communication skills, and a friendly and outgoing personality with a high level of presentation and cleanliness. Previous lifeguarding and water testing experience is an advantage, along with pool operations, including plant and equipment maintenance, however full training will be provided to the successful applicant. As part of your Lifeguard qualification, you will be required to demonstrate a reasonable level of fitness and swimming ability.

On the job training will earn you a NZ Certificate in Aquatics (Senior Pool Lifeguard) Levels 3 and Level 4. A national standard recognised by employers internationally. Visit Sectors (temahiako.org.nz) for more info.

This role is based at Coastland Aquatic Centre with opportunities to work at Otaki Pool, and Waikanae Pool in the summer.

The position is full time, and we are open 7 days a week, 364 days a year, so you must be flexible as rostered weekend work will be part of the role.
