Laboratory Supervisor

It’s our mission to be the world’s most trusted source of dairy nutrition, ensuring our Te Rapa Chemistry Laboratory meets our operational goals and initiatives. We are currently seeking an intelligent, enthusiastic and self-motivated Laboratory Supervisor to join our team based at the Te Rapa site.
In this role you will be required to:
- Assist the Laboratory Department Manager to effectively lead the laboratory team to ensure the Technical, Quality and Service requirements are met
- Supervise a team of people on a day-to-day basis, allocating and monitoring staff work and performance, day-to-day queries and feedback to staff and customers, participating in the recruitment process
- Monitor systems that ensure ongoing compliance to required standards
- Assist in providing cost effective and quality Laboratory services to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Milk Supply and external customers
- Optimizing operational targets, customer requirements and regulatory standards along with maintaining a strong focus on continuous improvement
- Aid in the development and implementation of effective strategies to recruit, train and retain assigned laboratory team staff
- Contribute to the development of Operational Excellence throughout the department
- Ensure the Health and Safety of the Laboratory team is a key priority at all times
This role operates on a rostered day-shift basis
**Skills and Experience**
To be considered for this role you will ideally have:
- Leadership skills to build a strong multi skilled team
- The ability to drive operational excellence initiatives to improve efficiencies
- A tertiary qualification in Science or Food Technology would be advantageous
- Knowledge in quality systems and documentation that relate to standards ISO 17025, MPI Recognised Laboratories,
- Sound computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Capability in structured problem solving
