Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi is a vibrant and exciting tertiary education institution which offers a range of programmes from certificates to doctorates across a range of disciplines. Our programmes are delivered at three main sites in Whakatane, Tāmaki Makaurau, and Whangarei, and at off-site locations including marae venues throughout the country. Our delivery modes include classroom learning, noho marae, Wānanga, and online (eWānanga) during weekdays, in the evening, and on weekends.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Director - Strategy will lead the development and implementation of strategic plans aimed at achieving our vision and mission. This role is part of a small collaborative executive lead team and can expect to be involved in all aspects of our organisation.

The successful applicant will lead any development and implementation of the current outcomes framework, provide high level Māori data analysis, research and evaluation across multiple data sets (internal and external IDI) to inform decision making at the executive leadership level leading to continuous quality improvement throughout the organisation. The EDS will also manage strategic projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.

Our successful applicant will be working towards or have a relevant doctorate, and bring the following qualities with them:

- 2-3 years working at executive level on strategic planning, implementation and communication
- Experience working with external clients and developing new business within the tertiary sector
- 3-5 years’ working with and understanding data relevant to the Tertiary sector.
- Evidence of experience in publishing and presenting on work outputs
- Te reo Māori oral and written competency to at least an intermediate level.
- Experience using databases at an advanced level.
- MS Excel Advanced User.
