The Special Projects team within Wētā FX is looking to hire a Pipeline Engineer with a strong Unreal Engine background.

Special Projects is focused on developing innovative tools, content and experiences using real-time technologies. Our goal is to enable creative partners to achieve their vision using emerging technologies with a focus on producing uncompromising visual work.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support the Technology Leadership team and collaborate meaningfully regarding the evolution and implementation of our real-time VFX pipeline and Special Projects initiatives
- Collaborate with Artists, Developers and Infrastructure teams to design workflow solutions and solve production challenges
- Contribute to the delivery of Virtual Production, Linear Media and Interactive projects by shaping the infrastructure supporting the technologies that drive them through each phase of production
- Develop and support pipeline tools for the Special Projects team within and around DCC apps such as Houdini, Mari, Maya, Nuke, and Substance 3D.
- Test and validate tools and techniques - ensure ongoing research to aid in recommendations for improvement of workflows for increased productivity and communication
- Crew Support:

- Support the Special Projects Technology team in regards pipeline development and maintenance.

**Experience and Attributes**:

- Experience developing creative code and pipeline tooling for Unreal Engine
- Minimum of 3 years experience using Unreal Engine in a production environment
- Production experience with version control systems such as Perforce and Git and integration systems such as Gitlab and Jenkins
- Natural skill for addressing existing pipeline challenges as well as designing workflow solutions for future pipeline needs
- Extensive knowledge of Python, broad experience with other programming languages such as HLSL/GLSL, C/C++, C#, JavaScript or HTML and libraries such as Qt is a plus
- Production and tools development experience within a Games or VFX facility for Houdini, Mari, Maya, Nuke, Substance 3D and/or Shotgun
- Systems management experience for Windows, macOS and Linux platforms
- Must be a detail-orientated self-started who is highly organized
- Understand the importance of clear documentation in regards to pipeline and tools planning
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team skills
- Passion for emerging technologies across the media & entertainment industry
