India Cook and Team Member/kitchen Hand

We have two full time positions available at Chicken Corner, Rotorua.

One position is for full time Indian cook and one is for full time Team Member/Kitchen Hand.

Both positions are 35-40 hours per week, $27.50-$32 per hour and its permanent positions.

**Duties and responsibilities for Indian Cook are but not limited to**
- Direct, prepare or supervise cooking and other food preparation activities on a daily basis
- Inspect cooking equipment, supplies, work areas and ingredients to ensure constant conformance to regulatory standards including enforcing safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
- Coordinate all food purchasing, budgeting and planning operations with other staff members
- Allocate and oversee the work of the junior kitchen staff team including cleaning schedules.
- examining quality of food before it is delivered to the customer.
- regulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
- portioning food and presenting it on plates
- Maintain clean and safe kitchen and cooking equipment.
- Assist in crafting menu items, recipes and variety of quality Indian dishes.
- Introducing new items on the menu to keep the menu fresh.
- Managing and training the new staff
- Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
- able to work in team with other other staff members as necessary
- Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Good sense of planning and preparation for the day ahead

Skills Required:
1. Either a qualification in cookery or work experience of at least 3 years either as a cook or a chef.
2. Should be Specialized in Indian street food, Curries, indian tandoori dishes, Authentic Indian snacks, Kababs (Veg and Non-Veg Both) etc.
3. Be a good team player and have an ability to work under stress.
4. Be up-to-date with the current trends and have an ability to suggest create new dishes from time to time in order to stay competitive
5. Excellent with managing time effectively
6. Should be able to work on 7 days roster shift which includes the weekends and public holidays

**Key Duties for Team Member/Kitchen Hand includes**:

- Packing food and beverage trays for serving
- Cooking and heating simple food items
- Serving Food to Customer
- Cleaning kitchens and food preparation areas
- Cleaning cooking and general utensils used in kitchens and restaurants
- Transferring, weighing and checking supplies and equipment
- Assembling and preparing ingredients for cooking,
- Stock up drink fridges
- Tidying up food preparation areas after they have been used.
- Making sure that dishes/utensils are stored away properly.
- Disposing of kitchen rubbish and food waste
- Stock up items in the correct areas after receiving the deliveries.
- Adhering to company’s procedure for food hygiene and health & safety.
- Ensuring that there are sufficient detergents for the efficient running of the dishwashing area.

**Requirements for the role**:

- Team player and ability to work competently under pressure.
- Reliable and flexible to change.
- Must be able to work across any shifts including evening, weekends and public holidays.
- Must be fit, quick thinker, reliable, trustworthy and self-motivated.

**Salary**: $27.50 - $32.00 per hour
