**About the role**
We are looking to employ a General Physician to join our Department of Medicine, currently providing General Internal Medicine inpatient and outpatient services, plus a range of sub-specialty services to a population of approximately 260,000.

This position is based at Whakatane Hospital, a 60+ bed Level 2 hospital. This is predominantly an inpatient role but will include some elective work. This is a 0.5FTE, part-time position working on a 3 year fixed term until September 2028.

Whakatane Hospital runs an Acute General Medical inpatient service with district wide support from sub-specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Geriatrics, Oncology, Haematology, Palliative care, Neurology and Renal services. General Physicians are well supported to provide comprehensive care.

**About you**

The ideal applicant will:

- Hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council.
- Be aligned with the values of the department and be able to work in a professional capacity with their colleagues and wider health care providers.
- Have competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a have a commitment to further their journey by taking taking ownership of their cultural learning and growth.
