Senior Water Engineer

The opportunity
This role offers the opportunity to lead small to medium-scale three waters projects with varying complexity alongside a team of passionate water engineering professionals. Recent projects delivered by the team include reticulation network renewals and upgrades, new product trials, emergency repairs, sustainability initiatives, and storm water management strategy development. The role also involves working with growing engineers in the team to support their success and growth.
About you
You hold an engineering qualification relevant to a Senior Engineering role that delivers water-related infrastructure.
You stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies and methods. You strive for continuous improvement in technical standards and have a track record of providing sound technical advice. You have strong coaching and mentoring skills.
You enjoy delivering projects and building relationships with contractors, consultants and stakeholders. You understand how to plan and execute project management plans to achieve delivery objectives for quality, time, and budget.
About our team
The Wellington Water Design team is responsible for creating and upholding the design standards for public water, waste-water and storm water infrastructure in the region. We work alongside our consultant panel to ensure the design standards are best practice and are consistently upheld through the delivery life-cycle for Wellington Water projects as well as water infrastructure provided by third parties such as developers.
In addition, the team delivers a ranges of three waters infrastructure solutions for client councils such as renewals and upgrades of water and waste-water reticulations, as well as facilities upgrades (pump stations, minor treatment works) and business improvement projects. We manage these capital infrastructure projects from the initial development of engineering design solutions, through to the tender process, procurement of materials, management of the construction contracts and final inspection and commissioning.
We are also responsible for the management and development of the Regional Standard and Regional Specification, as well as the Approved Products Register.
As the internal consultant for Wellington Water we are a member of the wider Consultant Panel leadership team that delivers most of the three waters infrastructure projects for our client councils.
