Transpower owns and operates New Zealand's National Grid, the high-voltage transmission network that links generation sites to towns and cities nationwide.
As the System Operator, we play a pivotal role in running the wholesale electricity market and managing the power system in real-time. At the core of New Zealand's power system, we connect electricity generators with retailers via the wholesale market, ensuring the seamless flow of electricity through Transpower's high-voltage network to local lines companies and large industrial customers.

**About the team**
The Network Modelling and Commissioning Team, part of the Operations Planning Group, delivers engineering expertise to ensure the safe and secure integration of transmission assets into the power system. The team also evaluates and coordinates updates to transmission and generator asset capability information within the Operations tools suite, adapting to changes in the transmission network.
Working across various time frames, the team addresses everything from near real-time operations to major projects and long-term grid changes.

Based in Wellington, you will work specifically with the Network Modelling & Commissioning Team. In this intermediate-level role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and assessing commissioning plans for transmission assets to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Ensuring that commissioning plans reflect the efficient execution of all commissioning activities, maintaining safety for both plant and personnel while safeguarding the security of the power system.
- Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve issues in commissioning plans.
- Managing the communication process of asset capability changes from asset owners to the system operator, ensuring this information is effectively conveyed to other operations teams within the division

To be considered, your CV and covering letter will demonstrate:
- A bachelor's degree in Power Systems or Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
- Knowledge of power system operations (electricity generation / transmission / distribution networks) and protection systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the energy sector, specifically in transmission asset commissioning or a related field.
- Experience in assessing and validating commissioning plans and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
