As the Manager for Water Strategy, you will lead the coordination, integration and implementation of our 3 Waters infrastructure strategies, as well as oversee the implementation of Council’s 3 Waters asset management plans and related workforce development. An key area of focus will be preparation for 3 Waters Reform, as you work to position our 3 Waters activities at a level that is appropriate to be transferred over to a new entity, including robust future plans, effective planning and operational documentation and appropriate processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement strategic plans and policies for water resource management, including water supply, wastewater, storm water, and related workforce management.
- Lead and manage a team of water professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships, promote water conservation, and raise awareness about sustainable water practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of water strategies and initiatives, making recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.

**Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in local authority engineering and/or the strategic management of an infrastructure organisation, with technical expertise in 3 Waters
- Significant experience in programme management, budget management, planning and forecast processes and risk management
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of complex program of projects from initiation through to project completion, both infrastructure and business improvement.
- High level of skills and experience in the management of whole of asset lifecycle involving the prioritized capital planning, and renewal or replacement of assets through a capital delivery program of works.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience working within New Zealand Legislation and understanding of local legislation and regulation, Standards and Codes of Practice.
