**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.

We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.

The Regional Planning Lead reports to the Office of the Regional Wayfinder. They are responsible for regional health service and wellbeing plans, built off the needs analysis of the population across the region, the whanau needs analysis as part of locality plans, and the broader national planning including capital planning and Te Pae Tata. The regional health plans will be fully costed plans that will identify the regional investment and actions for all Te Whatu Ora services (HHS, NPHS and Primary and Community care) within a region. The Regional Planning Lead will work closely with other Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to develop the plans. The Regional Planning Lead will also have responsibility for monitoring the performance of Te Whatu Ora against the actions in the plan.

**This role is based in the Northern Region, which is made up of Northland, Waitematā, Auckland and Counties Manukau. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**

You will need to bring the following skills and experience to this position:

- Demonstrated experience in local, regional and/or national planning processes
- Experience and strong analytical skills allowing for them to carry out effective needs analysis of the population across the region they work in.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups and at a senior level.

- The ability to communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Boards and Ministers.
- Experience navigating and operating within the machinery of government or in a regulated environment.

**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, which will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa for generations.

Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.

We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures improved access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.

**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
