The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join our collaborative Policy team in Wellington.
The reason for this fixed term position is to support the Policy team as they transition to a new way of working. The Senior Operational Policy Adviser will take over the current operational policy programme of work as the team shift their focus to regulatory policy and policy projects.

You will be operating at a Senior Operational Policy level with a strong Privacy focus.

The type of things the Senior Operational Policy Adviser will work on will include:

- Advice to health agencies on how to build a privacy protective healthcare system, at a time of great change for that sector
- Supporting OPC in providing advice to key public agencies in the areas of law enforcement, social care, and digital services
- Reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) from agencies and providing advice on how to strengthen their analysis to support compliance with the Privacy Act
- Advising agencies on the privacy issues relating to the use of cutting-edge technologies like biometrics / Facial Recognition Technology
- Reviewing and advising on the establishment of Approved Information Sharing Agreements (AISAs) under the Privacy Act, an important tool for supporting public agencies to collaborate
- Developing guidance for agencies to help them build a privacy protective culture that protects the personal information of New Zealanders.
