Mōu - About You
We are looking for someone to deploy as soon as possible, prior, and recent, experience as an MPI Fisheries Observer is a must. Applicants must have at least 120 seadays experience, including deployments on small vessels. You must have the ability to collect and compile field data and be able to live and work in a seagoing environment. You will also have strong experience in note taking and data collection, and act as an ambassador for MPI and other government organisations. Seagoing experience and knowledge of New Zealand fisheries are a must for this opportunity. We need someone who is well versed in building and maintaining successful relationships. In this role, you'll get to work with intelligent and passionate people with diverse backgrounds and skill sets across Fisheries New Zealand and MPI, other New Zealand Government agencies, Tangata Whenua, and industry personal.
Mō tō mātou Rōpū - About the Team
The Fisheries Observer & Verification Services team perform a variety of functions that are critical to the sustainable management of New Zealand's fisheries and the environmental effects of fishing. We deliver Fisheries Observer Services, plan and manage deployments for Fisheries Observers, and review and analyse footage captured by our Electronic Monitoring programme.
