Wintec |Te Pūkenga is a Tumu, a mooring post to which learners secure their waka to for a time. The Tumu ensures the learners’ journey is successful, where they achieve their aspirations. Once the learner has added to their waka with what they need, the learner unhitches their waka from the Tumu returning to their whānau, hapū, iwi, employers and the wider community to share their wealth of skills and knowledge._

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated professional to empower learner success by developing and coordinating a range of student-driven support initiatives.

Working closely with staff from across the institution, you will also be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operations of the Peer Tutors and other mentoring networks, its staff and activities. As Peer Support Coordinator, you will be part of the high performing support leadership team for Te Kete Manaaki.

In this role, you will work closely with kaiako and kaimahi to maximise our ability at Wintec| Te Pūkenga to support ākonga from diverse backgrounds and perspectives with a focus on equity for ākonga Māori, Pacific and ākonga with disabilities. You will also be confident in proactively working with ākonga to understand their needs, support them to achieve their goals and persist on their learning journey.

This is a permanent part-time position.
- We are looking for someone who is passionate about students working together to achieve success.
- Your approach to work will be systematic and well organised but will also adapt to changes in workflow or priorities as required.
- You will have experience and enjoy working with youth, Māori and Pacific ākonga.
- You will have highly developed communication and analytical skills.
- You will have initiative and be able to direct work on your own while also contributing to projects as part of a team.

A tertiary qualification or comparable experience, strong customer-centred approach and highly developed communication and analytical skills are essential. Experience in the tertiary sector would be an advantage.
