**We are looking for a Principal Water Engineer, to join and become part of our One Winning Team**

- Based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Pōneke (Wellington) or Ōtautahi (Christchurch)

**What you’ll do**

Reporting to the Engineering Civil Sector Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing engineering aspects of design and significant maintenance work for railway infrastructure stormwater related assets. The projects will cover coastal and river protection design, and rail infrastructure stormwater system including culverts, track drainage and yard drainage system.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Be a technical leader for the Water discipline, drive best practice Engineering and engaging at a strategic level with senior leadership, Technical Director and PHs, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership for Design Standards and Major Stormwater Projects e.g. track/yard drainage, culverts, river and coastal protection works.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in design solutions.
- Lead and manage investigations and inspections on stormwater assets and the development of cost-effective solutions for maintenance or renewal.
- Training and supervision of junior engineers, providing technical guidance and mentoring.

**What you’ll need**

You’ll have a relevant Tertiary and preferably post-graduate qualification in Civil Engineering. You’ll be a Chartered Engineer with Professional registration with a relevant organisation along with 10-15 years’ experience in civil stormwater engineering fields.

**In addition you will have**:

- Experience in stormwater drainage design, hydrology and hydraulics flood modelling.
- Coastal and river protection design experience.
- Experience with engineering analysis, asset databases, and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others.
