**Starting salary: $96,307 - $113,303 + superannuation**

**The role | Te tunga**
This is a permanent role based in Christchurch or Wellington. Reporting to the Manager Environment & Economic Statistics in the Methods & Design unit your focus is improving and developing methodologies to support the collection and production of the environment and economic statistics that Stats NZ delivers for New Zealanders.
This role would suit someone who can bring:
- Experience leading the development of statistical methods and resolving conceptually and technically challenging problems
- Knowledge and experience, or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao M ori.
- Examples of strong relationships you've built and how and why relationships are important.
- Examples where you've demonstrated leadership, e.g. lifted others up, led by example, demonstrated problem solving, owned a project or piece of work, spoken up for yourself or others.
- Experience performing data analysis using R, Python, SAS or SQL.
- Experience in a similar role that included a large component of delivering projects of a statistical or technical nature
- Experience in, or knowledge of, macro-economic statistics is an advantage
