Kōrero mō te tūranga ' About the role
The Patient At Risk Service (PARS) is a nurse-led team covering all adult wards. The team work with clinical wards/unit staff to identify patients at risk of deteriorating or developing critical illness.
The emphasis is on supporting and educating ward staff to help them recognise clinical deterioration and rapidly initiate an appropriate escalation of care.
PARS nurses attend all clinical emergencies and follow up patients discharged from ICU.
Mō tō mātou rōpū ' About our team
The PARS uses a multidisciplinary approach to identify patients at risk of developing critical illness in the general ward environment. The service is nurse-led and applies critical care skills to the management of deteriorating and acutely unwell ward patients. PARS nurses support patients, their whanau and healthcare professionals by: responding to clinical emergencies and acute referrals, monitoring patients recently discharged from ICU and providing education and advice in the management of acutely unwell patients.
Moū ' About you
All nurses employed at HVH will have registration with New Zealand Nursing Council and maintain a current annual practicing certificate as a Registered Nurse. Application onto the HVH Professional Development Recognition Programme will happen within 1 year of starting the role.
Applicants will have acute nursing experience with highly developed assessment skills, ability to teach and coach others in their practice when working with unwell patients, ability to advocate for patients, whanau and health care professionals with decisions being made around the Shared Goals of Care Policy.
