**About the role**
The Outbound Manager is responsible for leading and managing the outbound functions within the Auckland Distribution Centre, including manual pick, GTP pick, ASR & EMR despatch and Cross-dock. The individual will work closely with leaders in the site as well as key freight partners and network contacts to provide accurate and genuine customer service.
The role will be responsible for ensuring a high level of service to customers and branches is maintained within a safe and engaging environment, while managing to productivity and cost targets. The Outbound Manager will provide strong team leadership, managing the coordination and despatch operations, identifying, and implementing improvements in the operational functions, raising standards of performance, and ensuring staff engagement levels are maintained. The position requires a high level of communication skills, leadership skills and personal drive to deliver on our SLAs and provide great customer service.
**You will be someone who can/has**:
- Maintain a workplace that is safe and does not risk the health and safety of staff or visitors and does not damage the environment.
- Work collaboratively across the Distribution Centre to ensure implementation of key objectives.
- Experience leading large teams in a Distribution Centre environment
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
- Sound computer and software skills
- Understanding of the legal requirements of handling hazardous substances.
**Specific duties**:
- Run a safe operation, ensuring that our people return safe home everyday. Drive a safety culture, where hazards and incidents are reported and corrective actions are put in place
- Drive service from Outbound, ensuring the DC provides excellent service to customers and branches within our network
- Leadership of the Outbound function including 3 supervisors and around 30 team members, driving engagement and a positive culture, while managing performance
- Delivery of Outbound KPIs, working with DC leadership to set targets and coaching your team in their achievement
- Run an efficient operation, measuring and driving productivity, using and enhancing planning tools and meeting budget
- Create robust daily rhythms within the Outbound function - startups, DMS, handovers - to ensure visibility and control
- Continuously looking at opportunities for improvement in Outbound and wider within the Distribution Centre.
- Manage Outbound MHE Operations, including compliance & maintenance of equipment and adhering to the licensing requirements
**Skills & Experience**
- A minimum of 10 years in a Warehouse/Despatch Managerial role
- Have excellent computer literacy capabilities
- Relevant Supply Chain / Warehousing qualifications
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
- A strong focus on continuous improvement, with experience in Six Sigma or Lean
