**About the Role**

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at the Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (iCAMHS), you will provide specialist nursing care, expertise and leadership that ensures services to clients are provided in the most effective and evidence based method. This includes direct care and delivery as well as supporting other health professionals in their management of care delivery. There are opportunities to lead innovative practice and provide support, guidance and education alongside a range of appropriate mental health interventions.

**About the Team/Service/ Location**

Our team of mental health clinicians work closely together as a multi-disciplinary team to provide mental health assessments and treatment to Tamariki (children), taiohi (young people) and whanau (extended family). The Rotorua team is based at Te Aka Mauri, the Children’s Health Hub, located in the Rotorua Public Library building. The Taupō team is located on the Taupō Hospital grounds, in the Mental Health and Addictions Services building.

Te Whatu Ora Lakes provides healthcare to a population of 110,000 people from its two modern and progressive general hospitals in Rotorua and Taupo, New Zealand. The Lakes district is well known for its many outdoor recreational activities such as mountain biking, skiing, and fishing. **About you**

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will be able to:

- Provide specialist care, expertise and clinical leadership which includes advanced assessment, planning, nursing interventions and evaluation through nurse-led clinics and other relevant patient contacts.
- Provide evidence based expert health education and advice to tamariki/taiohi and whānau to enable them to make health choices suitable to their needs and be self-managing.
- Maintain professional knowledge and best practice relating to mental health and addiction, including demonstrating evidence of assessment, diagnosis planning, implementation and evaluation of care for persons presenting with complex mental health needs including discharge planning.
- To lead innovative practice within the population group to improve patient flow across the sectors
- As a designated senior nurse, you will be accountable for ensuring health services provided are consistent with your education and assessed competence, meet legislative requirements and are supported by appropriate standards.

We are looking to recruit a registered nurse with:

- Evidence of completion of a postgraduate qualification (preferably a PG Diploma) and working towards a Clinical Master’s degree.
- Consideration will be given to applicants who do not hold the required postgraduate qualification providing equivalent work experience and/or other programmes of study can be demonstrated.
- Gaining of the required qualification is the responsibility of the employee/service.
- Recent clinical experience, with at least five years of experience in mental health and addiction nursing
- Experience in infant, child and adolescent mental health settings preferred
