**About the role**
We are looking for an experienced clinician to join our developing clinical leadership team, working closely with the Clinical Director, Forensic and Rehabilitation DAMHS and in partnership with operations colleagues.
This is a new role and provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to shape and drive clinical excellence.
The Clinical Leader role is diverse and encompasses all aspects of clinical care, providing leadership in clinical matters. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining effective clinical governance and client-focused service development ; initiating and implementing quality and patient safety improvement measures, including the management of patient flow; addressing complaints and medico-legal matters; oversight of recruitment to key clinical positions; leading the credentialing process for medical staff and providing support and advice when concerns are raised regarding the working conditions, performance, conduct or health of clinicians, and assisting with opportunities for those wishing to gain clinical experience in these specialist fields.
**About the Team/Service/ Location**
Te Korowai Whariki Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Mental Health Service provides inpatient Forensic care for both adult and youth clients and Rehabilitation care for adult clients. Outpatient and - in-reach - care is provided for Forensic clients in the community and in prisons. The inpatient service is mainly located on the grounds of the former Porirua Hospital and is named Ratonga-Rua-O-Porirua, meaning - The Two Services of Porirua
- The Regional Forensic service works closely with the justice system to provide secure assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services for mentally ill offenders, alleged offenders, or adolescents who pose a high risk of offending, across the Courts, Prisons, Community and Inpatient settings.
**About you**
This position requires an experienced mental health senior clinician who is passionate about ensuring high quality mental health care for our communities. The successful applicant will be flexible, enthusiastic about innovation, motivated to work in partnership with other providers and organisations, and committed to ensuring equitable access to services and equitable outcomes for tāngata whaiora.
- Must have held a Senior Clinical role with leadership experience in the health sector, preferably in a Forensic and Rehabilitation inpatient service.
- Have experience of practice within a complex environment, including working simultaneously with multiple stakeholders and agencies.
- Must have a relevant tertiary level qualification in a clinical discipline (medicine, nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, etc.).
- Must be a registered practicing healthcare clinician.
- Have experience of managing clinical service delivery effectively.
