**About us**:
We want more good people to come and do great things with us.
We love where we live. That’s why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.
Customers sit at the heart of everything we do, and all staff have an important role to play in the delivery of exceptional customer service.
Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We’ve got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that’s what makes it so interesting.
Looking for flexible ways of working options, at Waikato Regional Council we are committed to working more creatively to ‘get work done’ in a way that is of mutual benefit to you, the organisation and our communities.
**About you**:
We're looking for a dynamic go-getter who prides themselves on their attention to detail and getting the job done.
You're bold and creative, and hungry to deliver communications and engagement plans that build pride, connect people and empower communities to take action.
You can write engaging content for print and digital, and you have experience delivering multi-channel campaigns. Managing media is in your repertoire too.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field.
**Experience**:
- At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience delivering communications support and advice.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
- Ability to deliver communications in a high pressure, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
- Strategic and tactical thinking skills.
- Political awareness and skill in dealing with sensitive and confidential issues (including bi-cultural sensitivity).
- Proven success at building relationships and resolving issues with internal and external stakeholders.
**About the role**:
In this role you’ll be part of an in-house Communications and Marketing section, which includes design, digital channels and social media. With this expertise at your fingertips, you’re well positioned to ensure
the communications and engagement plans you develop roll out successfully with engaging content that reflect trends and best practice, and achieve agreed outcomes.
This is a generalist role that provides communications support across our organisation, so you’ll be comfortable switching between multiple tasks and projects. Ideally, you’ll have some event management and internal communications experience.
Analytical skills are important too, so you can report on and continuously improve the work you do against agreed metrics.
You are outgoing and confident and thrive working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
