Mō te tūnga | About the role
Fleet and Equipment Coordinators play a key role in supporting New Zealand Police by ensuring vehicles, deployable assets, and tactical gear are available, safe, compliant, and well-maintained throughout their lifecycle.
This is a varied and dynamic role where you’ll work across a wide range of equipment types, collaborating with Police staff, service providers, and suppliers to manage operations, plan replacements, and make the best use of resources while maintaining compliance with national standards and procurement requirements.
You’ll also oversee onboarding and decommissioning of vehicles and equipment, monitor health and safety aspects, and foster strong partnerships with vendors to ensure service levels are met.

**Key Accountabilities**:
Health & Safety
Exercise health and safety, due diligence and promote a supportive culture.
Monitor health & safety events, encourage near-miss reporting, and contribute to lessons-learned activities.
Operational Management
Manage vehicle and equipment checks, repairs, servicing, asset records and lifecycle requirements.
Review invoices, monitor costs, and identify opportunities for savings, including use of donor parts programme.
Oversee onboarding and decommissioning of vehicles and equipment to ensure compliance and readiness.
Develop and maintain procedures and templates for the collection of vehicle and equipment information and ensure these are accessible across the required networks and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Engagement
Liaise with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure service level agreement compliance and effective service delivery.
Build strong relationships with Police staff, suppliers, and partners to maintain operational capability.
Continuous Improvement
Review usage data, evaluate expenditure, and recommend improvements to optimize value for money.
Support project work and national initiatives to enhance fleet and equipment management.
Identify and escalate systemic issues with equipment or fleet to national teams.

**You will bring**:
Experience or knowledge in fleet and/or equipment management, maintenance, or asset lifecycle.
Strong organisational and coordination skills with attention to detail.

Effective communication and relationship management skills.
Ability to monitor risks, contracts, and performance against expectations.
Confidence working with data systems, registers, and reporting tools (SAP experience advantageous).
Financial and analytical capability to support data-driven decisions.
Adaptability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic operational environment.
Full Class 1 driver’s licence and ability to pass a Police driving assessment.

This role is physically based in Auckland City and reports to the National Fleet Service Group in Wellington.
Some travel may be required.
