**Tēnei tūranga - About the role**:
We are seeking a confident and capable Principal Ministerial Services Advisor to join the Ministerial Services team within the Building Resources and Markets (BRM) Group at the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE). This is a newly established position within the team, with the purpose of representing BRM Ministerial Services as trusted advisors and experts in Ministerial advisory by developing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and by demonstrating and sharing best practice across MBIE.
The BRM Ministerial Services team is responsible for the delivery of high quality and timely responses to Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) requests and official correspondence on behalf of MBIE and its Ministers.
The BRM Group is responsible for many of the regulatory systems that govern New Zealand’s markets. This includes building, communications, competition, small business, consumer and commercial, energy markets, financial markets intellectual property and petroleum and minerals. We are also responsible for the external facing New Zealand Government Procurement and Government Property Group.
In this role you will work as part of a tight-knit team across the BRM Group and regularly interact with our MBIE business partners, Ministers’ offices, and wider stakeholders.

**If you have**:
- An in-depth knowledge and experience in Ministerial Servicing, including a deep knowledge of the Official Information Act and Ombudsman guidelines;
- A strong understanding of the processes that underpin the operations of the public sector environment;
- The ability to think strategically and analytically and can make connections between various aspects of the organisation to prepare a cohesive approach;
- The ability to develop policies, frameworks procedures and practice guides;
- Experience in coaching and training practitioners in Ministerial Servicing best practice;
- Demonstrated experience in leading continuous improvement to enhance performance;
- The ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust, credibility, buy-in and collaboration with leaders, staff, and other stakeholders;
- The ability to influence and lead work through others to get the best outcomes where direct reporting relationships do not exist; and
- Knowledge and understanding of the Treaty, Te Tiriti and the Treaty Principles, and a strong interest in developing knowledge of tikanga/kawa and Te Reo
