**About the role**:
Trading Standards is an operational team with national regulatory responsibility for administering and enforcing the systems that protect consumers and provide a ‘level playing field’ for business.
We’re currently looking for a **Manager - Testing and Standards** who will lead the team responsible for delivery of technical services that support the national trade measurement system and the delivery of the programme that monitors and regulates fuel quality. The work of this team includes administration of fuel sample collection, analysis of fuel test results, verification of mass, volume and length physical standards and the type or pattern approval of weighing and measuring equipment used for trade. You will, with support from specialist technical experts focus on people leadership and the effective delivery of critical services with a strong emphasis on health and safety and quality system improvement.

**Skills and experience required**:
- Strategic people and operational management experience, including experience in building teams with strong identity and engagement
- Strong operations or system management experience including experience working with health and safety and quality management systems
- The ability to work in a demanding and complex environment within statutory timeframes
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining an environment focused on continuous improvement to enhance organisational performance and keeping people safe.
