The opportunity
- Due to growth, we have a newly created role of Risk Consultant
- Be part of an experienced team, reporting directly to the National Risk Survey Manager
- Wellington based role
- Occasional international travel to the Pacific Islands
- Full training, supporting and mentoring will be provided

Your new role
You will assess variety of engineering risks, across a range of industries, as diverse as manufacturing, energy, marine, breweries, hotels, utilities, plants and the list goes on. This is an exceptional role with the opportunity to delve into the inner workings of various businesses. Key aspects of this role will include but are not limited to:
- Engaging with the client to understand their engineering risk profile, investigating and probing beneath the surface
- Advising clients on how to best protect their business against risks
- Continuously learning new industries and companies
- Provide survey reports and risk improvement advice on risk or potential risks to Underwriters and others within the business
- Support the development of a profitable regional portfolio.
- Complete & review survey reports for assets insured or quoted to minimise loss prevention and/or cover recommendations to underwriters.
- Provide technical advice as required and support enhancement of departmental activities.

About you
You may come from a diverse range of technical backgrounds, from engineering, police, surveying, refrigeration, mechanical to civil & insurance to name a few, but to be successful you will be:
- Naturally inquisitive and have the technical & mechanical nous, to understand how things work
- Good investigator with ability to build relationships, influence & look beneath the surface
- Confident communicator & negotiator with ability to understand & convey technical information
- Strong analytical & numerical skills with ability to analyse data and use for decision making
- Technical background & enjoying continuous learning
