The Plumbing, Gasfitting and Drainlaying (PGD) apprenticeship is a 4.5 5 year qualification which combines knowledge gained from working on the job and from the classroom, to work towards the National Certificate in Plumbing, Gasfitting & Drainlaying. Your Masterlink mentor is also there to support you throughout the duration of your apprenticeship.
As a PGD apprentice you will get to experience a variety of work that ranges from residential and maintenance jobs through to commercial projects. The PGD apprenticeship encompasses all aspects of the plumbing industry and allows for an extremely diverse work environment no two days will be the same
As a Masterlink apprentice, you will be:
- Provided with a Masterlink mentor to support you throughout your apprenticeship keeping you on track to qualify
- Provided with a brand-new start-up plumbing tool kit and basic PPE gear
- Signed up as a Master Plumbers Apprentice Member which provides access to a variety of discounts, learning opportunities and scholarships
- Extra training courses to ensure youre developing the best skills for your plumbing career
- Earning a steady wage while getting onsite you will also be paid when you go on a series of one-week block courses throughout your apprenticeship
To be an apprentice with Masterlink you must:
- Hold (at least) a clean Restricted New Zealand driver licence
- Be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Be willing to undertake a pre-employment medical check and police vet
- Be a keen and willing learner who is ready to give anything a go
- While building (including labouring) or plumbing experience is preferable, people with other relevant hands-on, practical, outdoor work experience will also be considered.
