About the Team We are the Lifecycle Request Engineering team at Workday, responsible for managing our customers at large scale and with cutting edge software. Our mission is to build useful, reliable and resilient systems to scale operations. As we continue to evolve and pursue a software first strategy for operational excellence and elimination of manual toil we are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join our team in Auckland, NZ. About the Role In this role, you will accelerate our goal of building a reliable and scalable lifecycle management system while also adding to our skill set density within the team. You will play an important part as a mentor and bringing an engineering mindset to the wider team.Here are some things you can expect in the role: - Collaborate with peers within the team and partner with others across the business to develop solutions for lifecycle management using the latest technologies - Be passionate about modern technologies and advocate for innovative approaches to existing systems or work practices - Be a mentor that enables team mates to grow and succeed - Partner with product management, engineers and customer teams to capture requirements, plan feature delivery and deliver on designs and implementation - Lead and facilitate team design and solution discussions - Work as part of an agile software team to ensure engineering principles and quality are a core component of feature delivery - Contribute ideas for continually improving the designs and scalability of the products and services delivered - Work in a high trust and innovative environment where teamwork is essential About You Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in software development, designing for and programming in one or more of the following: Python, Golang, Ruby, Java etc. - Experience working with agile methodologies and principles Other Qualifications - Full stack development experience preferred in a large, distributed systems environment - Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes is a plus - Experience leading features & design through implementation & support phases - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience Our Approach to Flexible Work With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote.
