- Māori whānau and wider communities. Their teams work with people across the South Canterbury region to strive for better outcomes for Māori and the wider community.**

The purpose of the Mental Health & Addictions Nurse/Allied Health Professional/Counsellor is to provide primary mental health & addiction services, providing high-quality care and support in the home or community. The Mental Health & Addictions Nurse/Allied Health Professional/Counsellor will work primarily with Māori and their whānau including mental health assessments, education, and rehabilitation and recovery planning.

Core aspects of the role include:

- Assessing need and designing recovery plans
- Working closely with the client and their whānau to ensure appropriate support is in place
- Assisting with transition back to the community
- Identifying opportunities for development
- Liaising with /referring to other providers
- RN (MH scope) or RN with recent mental health and addictions clinical experience; or Allied Health Professional with (MH Scope) with recent mental health and addictions clinical experience; or a Counsellor with MH and addictions clinical experience.
- New Zealand Registered with the Nursing Council of NZ, or Allied Health Professionals body.
- Current Annual Practising Certificate

Knowledge of a Māori world view, understanding of client and worker safety, as well as demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, will also be key to success in this role. You will be a competent computer user, able to record and maintain client notes. You will have the proven ability to independently manage your workload in a planned and coordinated manner.

A full driver’s licence is required for this position.
